Hijab, khimar and dress: how to put them together
How to wear a hijab or khimar with a HOULYA abaya or modest dress without crowding the shape.
One volume at a time
If the dress is already full, the khimar should fall plain, without a second puff over the chest. A short face-framing hijab only needs a straight abaya.
A four-piece look works when each piece has a job. The khimar covers hair and chest. The abaya covers the body. Do not stack three layers just in case.
Colours that hold
Two colours, not five. Black and sand, olive and cream, beige and brown. A lighter hijab can lift the face. The same family of colour makes a quiet set.
Do not put a strong print on the hijab and another on the dress. One pattern, the rest plain. Cleaner in photos and easier to wear again.
Stay and movement
The hijab should not slip when you greet someone or get into a car. A matte cloth holds better than very slippery satin in heat.
