How to choose an abaya in Morocco

Cut, length, sleeve and cloth: the HOULYA guide to a comfortable abaya, delivered across Morocco.

Start with the occasion

An everyday abaya closes in front, reaches the ankle and leaves the arms free. For Eid or a visit, a belted cut or a wide sleeve changes the shape without becoming tight.

If two sizes feel close, choose the one that clears the hips. Cloth can fall. A tight hip cannot be fixed later.

Sleeve, colour, season

A wide sleeve covers without sticking in summer. A straight sleeve sits more easily under a jacket. Black and beige work with both light and dark hijabs. Olive sits well with a sand khimar.

Skip velvet in July in Casablanca or Marrakech. Linen and light weaves breathe on the tram, in the car and at dhuhr.

Before you order

Look at the full photo, not only a fabric close-up. Check that the hem is straight and that the shop states cash on delivery. At HOULYA you pay when the parcel arrives.

Leave a city and a phone that is answered. A fast confirmation stops a parcel from circling. The returns page explains what to do if the piece does not fit.
